Overview
Volo Technologies Group Inc. (“Volo Technologies”, “Company”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. We believe that keeping your financial and personal information confidential and secure is critical to earning and maintaining your trust. It is important that you know your trust is critical to us. This Privacy Policy describes the specific procedures and policies we use to collect, use, share, and disclose with others information we collect from you and about you through our website located at www.voloapp.ca or through our web-based or mobile applications (collectively, the “Site”) and any related services.
By accessing and/or using the Site, you agree to be bound by the conditions and terms of this Privacy Policy as well as the Volo Technologies Terms of Use (into which this Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference), as they may be revised from time to time in the future.
Information Collected
To offer our services, we use a) information you provide to us, and b) information that we collect automatically from you and your financial accounts when you access or use the Site.
Information Provided to Us
To access our services through the Site, you are required to sign up for an account. When you sign up for an account, we may ask you to provide us with personal information about you, including your name, e-mail address, mobile phone number, mailing address or an avatar for your account.
During your account setup, you will be asked to provide information about you from third-party financial institutions with which you have a legally binding customer relationship (each, a “Third-Party Financial Institution”). To allow us to access your financial data with Third-Party Financial Institutions, you will be required to provide (as applicable): the name of the Third-Party Financial Institution, the username or email address associated with that institution, the password for your user account, and other similar information. We use this information to establish a connection with your financial accounts and access to data needed to provide you with the services requested, including your bank account and routing number with that institution. We do not store your bank account and routing number on our servers.
Under certain circumstances, we may also be required to verify your identity to comply with certain obligations and laws. In those situations, we may ask you to provide us with information including your name, date of birth, social security number, mailing address, and images of your government-issued identification. With the exception of your name and mailing address (which we will use and store in accordance with this Privacy Policy), we will not store the other information you provide in such an event after it has been used.
Information Collected from You
In addition to the data you provide when creating your account, we may collect information from you during your use of the Site. For example, we may collect data from you about the device you use to access the Site, which operating system or internet browser you use for that access, and your IP address. We may also collect data about how you use our Site, including any links you may click on or if and when you have visited our Site in the past.
When you authorize us to access data from your financial accounts with Third-Party Financial Institutions, we may also collect data about those accounts, including the account balances, the institution type holding the account, and the account type involved (i.e., savings or checking and depository or credit). We may also collect data about transactions that have taken place in that financial account, including, but not limited to, the transaction amount, the transaction location, and the transaction date and time.
Use of Information Collected
We use the data we collect for a number of purposes, including:
- operating the Site and providing all related services to you
- improving the Site and all related services, as well as researching and developing new and/or improved services, and specifically customizing services for each customer
- contacting you with regards to your account, changes to the Site or the services we provide, and/or promotional information about new products or services we may be offering
- responding to inquiries or communications from you
- offering customer service or technical support assistance
- administering and operating your account, including identifying you with your account
- maintaining the Site, and ensuring compatibility with software / hardware our customers typically use.
- securing the Site, our networks, servers and systems, and protecting your data
- sharing information with others in accordance with this Privacy Policy
- billing you, as applicable
Google Analytics and Cookies
We and our partners may use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit our Site. This technology may include the use of cookies and similar tools. We use these tools through Google Analytics to improve your experience with our Site. Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google that uses data collected from our Site, through cookies and similar technology, to track and examine the use of the Site, and to prepare reports on these activities. We use these tools to improve the delivery and performance of our Site by:
- gaining a better understanding of how you use our Site;
- identifying and defending against fraud and/or other security risks; and
- offering better advertisements, products, and/or services of interest to you.

Information Shared with Others
We do not share any of your personal or financial information with individuals, companies, or organizations outside of Volo Technologies with the following exceptions.
Google Analytics – As mentioned above, we also provide data regarding your use of our Site, including clicks on links to other sites on our Site, to Google Analytics. Although the data we provide can be used to understand how you use our Site, it cannot be used to identify you.
Plaid – As part of providing you with the Site and related services in connection with your financial accounts, we work with our partner, Plaid Technologies, Inc. (“Plaid”), who is also authorized to access financial accounts. We use Plaid to retrieve your data from financial institutions. By using our Site, you grant us and Plaid the authority, power, and right to act on your behalf to access and transmit your personal and financial data from the associated financial institution. You agree to your personal and financial information being transferred to, stored, and processed by Plaid in accordance with the Plaid Privacy Policy (https://plaid.com/legal). We provide Plaid the following data about your financial account during your account setup:
- the name of the financial institution
- your account username
- your account email address
- your account password for that financial account
Plaid uses this information to establishes a connection to those financial accounts. Once the connection is established, we delete the financial account information from our servers.
Essential Service Providers – We may also share data with essential third-party service providers as required to operate the Site and provide services to you. For example, we use Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a cloud server provider, and must therefore share data with AWS. Information shared with such essential service providers is strictly limited to the purposes of operating the Site and providing the services to you. We may also provide access to your data to third-party vendors who may be assisting us with the operation, maintenance, or security of our Site.
As Required By Law – Under certain circumstances, we may be required to share data as necessary and appropriate under applicable laws (including outside your country of residence) to comply with legal processes or requirements, including notification obligations; responses to requests from public and/or government authorities or regulators (including those outside your country of residence); enforcement of our contractual rights and agreements; and to protect the rights, privacy, safety, or property of you, Volo Technologies, and others. We may share personal or financial information with others if we believe that disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to:
- meet any applicable laws, regulations, legal processes or enforceable governmental requests
- enforce applicable Terms of Use, including the investigation of potential violations
- identify, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues
- protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, Volo Technologies, or the public against harm as required or permitted by law
Our Site may, from time to time, contain links to, or from the websites of our partners, advertisers, or affiliates. If you choose to follow any of these links, please be advised that these websites have their own privacy policies, and that Volo Technologies does not accept any responsibility or liability for their policies. Please review these policies before submitting any data to these websites.
Information Retention Period
We will only retain data we collect about you for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes defined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by applicable laws.
Information Options
We endeavor to provide you with consistently accurate information about your financial accounts. In order for us to do so, we require accurate data from you about yourself and those accounts. If you discover that the information that we have about you is incorrect, outdated or missing, please notify us at help@voloapp.ca so that the matter can be addressed. We may request that you verify your identity before processing any requests to change your information. Requests that are unreasonably repetitive, impractical, require extraordinary technical effort or cost, or risk the privacy or security of others may be rejected.
Updating your Personally Identifiable Information
You may view and update any of your personally identifiable account information by signing into your Volo Account and editing your profile.
Requesting Deletion of Personal Information
You may request to have your account deleted by our support department by sending an email with the subject line “CANCEL ACCOUNT” to help@voloapp.ca from the email address associated with your account. Once we have confirmed you are the account owner, we will remove your personal information from our records and will only continue to retain such information as required by applicable laws.
California Do Not Track Disclosures
Volo Technologies does not track its users over time and across third-party websites and therefore we do not respond to Do Not Track signals.
Updates and Revisions
This Privacy Policy may be revised or updated from time to time in our sole discretion. In the event of a material change, we will publish the updated Privacy Policy on our website and update the date at the top of the document. The continued use of the Site after any changes have been made will be considered the acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. If you do not want to accept the updated Privacy Policy, your recourse is to terminate your account.
Security
As part of our commitment to securing and protecting Volo Technologies and our users from unauthorized access to, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of information in our possession, we may:
- encrypt your personal and/or financial information
- require multi-step authentication when accessing your account
- review our data collection, processing and storage processes to safeguard against unauthorized access
- restrict access to personal or financial information to Volo Technologies employees, contractors, partners, or agents
